Attractions - Towns and Villages
Elk:
7 miles north, several cafes, notably "Queenie's Roadhouse", a favorite of the locals, offers great breakfast and lunch in a friendly, rustic setting. Art gallery, numerous shops, a small grocery and stunning ocean views.
Point Arena:
9 miles south, a wonderful, "funky" small town with several eateries, a great coffee shop/natural foods grocery, old-time movie theater with a cool balcony just like the good old days.
Manchester:
5 miles south, boasts a great old time general store (S&B) where you can get gourmet groceries, sundries and hardware items under one roof. Check out the Manchester Flea Market every Saturday and Sunday
Mendocino:
25 miles north, unparalleled for the scenic beauty of the Headlands and surrounded by grassy meadows and the crystal blue Pacific on three sides; the historic Village of Mendocino has something for everyone. Wonderful cafes, shops, art galleries (and the world’s best brownies at the Midtown Bakery).
Fort Bragg:
32 miles north, a funky fishing village with a working harbor and a beach famous for its incredible abundance of beautiful sea glass. “Glass Beach” is a remnant of a pre-World War II dump and is well known by collectors of beach glass. Wonderful seafood can be had at several restaurants in the harbor. If you have a hankering for beer, visit the North Coast Brewing Company, internationally recognized as one of the 10 best breweries in the world! Fort Bragg also has major grocery and drug stores.
Gualala:
24 miles south, two excellent restaurants: St Orr's and Pangea, the renowned Gualala Art Center, numerous galleries and shops.

Light House Tour:
Climb to the top of one of the tallest Pacific Coast Lighthouses as Keepers have done for over 100 years! Set in one of the most spectacular, yet peaceful surroundings on the northern California coast, the Point Arena tower is the only Pacific West coast lighthouse of significant height (115 feet) that you can climb to the top! Guided tours of the light station as well as self-guided tours of the grounds are available daily. Afterward, spend some time browsing through our Lighthouse Gift shop featuring unique souvenirs, interesting gifts, custom made Abalone Jewelry, beautiful collectibles, and lighthouse clothing.
Arena Cove:
The historic Point Arena Wharf (also known as the Arena Cove) is a working harbor where commercial and private fishing boats may be seen unloading their catch. Fishing without a license is allowed from the municipal pier. This area also offers deep sea fishing outings, boating, shops and restaurants. The Cove also is noted to be one of the best surfing areas in California.
Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens:
Located on Highway 1 just south of Fort Bragg; a beautiful 47 acre public garden with ocean views, native plants, giant rhododendrons and splendid perennials. This is definitely a must see.
River and Ocean Kayaking:
Tours and rentals are available in Gualala at Adventure Rents, in Little River at Lost Coast Kayaking.
Deep Sea Fishing: A number of deep-sea charters are available from Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg
Golfing:
The Sea Ranch Golf Links is considered one of the 10 of most picturesque courses by California Golf: The Ultimate Guide, along with Pebble Beach, Cypress Point, Spyglass Hill, and The Links at Spanish Bay, and one of the premiere golf courses in California.
Little River Inn Golf Course:
A challenging and beautiful nine hole course that winds inland through the redwoods and out to the coast for a dramatic ninth hole perched on an ocean bluff.
Wine Tasting in the Anderson Valley
A throw back to wine tasting in the Napa Valley in the 60s and 70s, before it became a chic destination. The Anderson Valley is a hidden treasure of pastoral beauty, vineyards, orchards and sheep ranches. Stop and taste at some of these wonderful wineries: Brutacao Cellars, Maple Creek Winery, Roederer Estate, Yorkville Cellars and Scharfenberger Champagne Cellars.
